Aside from planting and irrigating the rice fields, the Arant family has been hard at work this summer traveling to trade shows like Made South Market, to spread the word about Delta Blues Rice products.
An event that began in 2015, Made South Market brings the best artisan goods, food, drink, music and art created below the Mason-Dixon together under one roof. In its inaugural year, one event was held in Franklin, Tennessee, which saw 2,000 guests attend. The following year, the show added a second location, and saw 7,000 guests walk through the doors in Franklin and in South Carolina combined. Because of the huge growth and positive reception, Made South Market creators wanted to go bigger in 2017. With five shows in four cities between June-November, Southern makers and their fans are flocking to these events to check out the latest and greatest goods.
So far this summer, David and Rebekkah Arant have traveled to Hoover, Alabama and Franklin, Tennessee, to take part in this year’s first two Made South Market events. With eye-catching booths that included dozens of Delta Blues Rice bags on display, recipe cards, farm photos and free samples, of course, David and Rebekkah met with hundreds of people while in Hoover. Some were familiar with the products, while others were just being introduced, which is what these events are all about—letting people know just how good farm to table rice can be!
If you missed the first two shows, be sure to mark the next three down on your calendars. Made South Market is hosting an event in Atlanta, Georgia, Sept. 29-30; Louisville, Kentucky, Nov. 17-18 and again in Franklin, Tennessee, Nov. 17-18 for a holiday-themed show.
